Northern Arizona is a public, comprehensive university. Founded in 1899 as a teacher training school, it gained university status in 1966. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Science, Business Administration, Ecosystem, Science, Management, Engineering and Technology, and Social and Behavioral Sciences; the Center for Excellence in Education; and the Schools of Communication, Health Professions, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Performing Arts; and the Museum Faculty of Fine Art. Its 730-acre campus is located in Flagstaff.
